Rev. David Cox Sr. has been named Senior Pastor of Temple of Faith Baptist Church at 15801 W. Chicago Detroit, MI 48288 . An ordained Baptist preacher within the Southern Baptist Convention., Pastor David Cox was licensed in June 30th 2013 and was ordained on January 21, 2018 under the founding Pastor the late Pastor Rochelle Davis Sr.(PD).
Rev. David Cox graduated from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Economics and certification in Transportation. He is also a graduate of Gateway Seminary, where he has earned diplomas in 6 disciplines including Christian Ministries-CLD (2017) and Christian Ministry Leadership-ADVANCE (2021) during this time Rev. Cox earned the Academic Achievement Award for maintaining as GPA or 3.5 or higher and graduated with honors.
The Rev. Cox's most recent ministerial assignment was as Youth Pastor of Temple of Faith, were he help organized, lead, coordinated and taught Youth Church. He also served two 2-year assignment at Oak Park Missionary Baptist Church as a supply minster. Rev. David Cox Sr. previously serve a Deacon at Temple of Faith Baptist Church for 15 years where he was ordained in July of 1999 by the Ordination counsel withing the Southern Baptist Convention. He served two terms as Chairman of the Deacons Ministry.
Rev. Cox has served Temple of Faith as position of Youth Pastor for 5 years, Deacon for 14 years, Stewardship director for 15 years, and Trustee for 5 years and multiple other leadership position to including facilitating Executive Council and Church Business meeting. Rev. Cox as served our local church association, Greater Detroit Baptist Association were he has served as the GDBA Treasurer for the past 7 years where he was elected each year by the associational churches. Rev. Cox also served on the state level through the Michigan African American Fellowship, where he served as Recording secretary under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Stan Parker and in the past 3 years elected as Vice –President by member of the fellowship. Rev. David Cox also serves on the national SBC level as a Trustee with GuideStone Financial Resources for the past 8 years where he has served as Chairman of the Insurance Committee for the past 4 years and elected Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees in 2023. He served on the Presidential/CEO Search committee. In 2024, Rev. David Cox was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees by the board members, becoming the First African American Male (Rene Trewick, first African American).
